Abstract: Using conversation analytic and ethnographic methods, the presenter examines one expert language teacher’s systematic approaches to giving feedback. How the teacher gives positive and negative feedback will be presented along with (a) the sequential environments in which different feedback practices occur, and (b) other contextual features influencing those practices.
